Education - Academic & Pastoral
The Middle School encompasses Years 8 and 9, and encourages boys to develop their independent learning skills and challenges them to consistently achieve academic excellence.
The Year 8 students have a structured curriculum that allows them to explore a breadth of subjects while Year 9 offers the students choices within the Curriculum Framework.
The nurturing of boys in a holistic sense is at the core of the College pastoral care program and is central to boys being able to become 'men for others' in the spirit of Edmund Rice. To ensure that the focus is on the development of each student, the academic and pastoral dimensions of the college are interwoven.
The House system provides the framework for pastoral care at Aquinas. Each student has a Tutor, who has the primary responsibility for the students in their care. The tutor meets with students each day in their tutor group. Tutors are supported by a Director of House and the Dean of the Middle School.
